Influence of Substrates and Hydrogels on Spearmint (Mentha spicata) Growth and Flowering in a Rooftop Garden

چکیده

Agricultural hydrogels improve water retention in a variety of substrates. However, little is known about their impact on herb cultivation rooftop farming. To identify the optimal substrate and hydrogel concentration for growth flowering spearmint ( Mentha spicata ) gardens, coir perlite were mixed three different ratios 80% to 20% (v/v; referred as C 4 P 1 ), 50% (C or ). Hydrogels added into substrates at concentrations including 0 (control), 0.25, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 kg⋅m –3 . Substrate composition significantly affected < 0.001) 0.05) properties spearmint. The addition resulted significant increase parameters during dry season. plants grown , which has highest ratio coir, displayed inferior compared with those other two rainy Therefore, perlite-based substrate, such hydrogel, provides suitable environment gardens regardless seasonal rainfall patterns.

Phenolic and Volatile Composition of a Dry Spearmint (Mentha spicata L.) Extract.

The present paper reports a complete mass spectrometric characterization of both the phenolic and volatile fractions of a dried spearmint extract. Phenolic compounds were analysed by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry (UHPLC-ESI-MS(n)) and a total of 66 compounds were tentatively identified, being the widest phenolic characterisation of spearm...

Biochemical and Histochemical Localization of Monoterpene Biosynthesis in the Glandular Trichomes of Spearmint (Mentha spicata).

The primary monoterpene accumulated in the glandular trichomes of spearmint (Mentha spicata) is the ketone (-)-carvone which is formed by cyclization of the C(10) isoprenoid intermediate geranyl pyrophosphate to the olefin (-)-limonene, hydroxylation to (-)-trans-carveol and subsequent dehydrogenation. Selective extraction of the contents of the glandular trichomes indicated that essentially al...

Environmental Factors Affecting the Accumulation of Rosmarinic Acid in Spearmint (Mentha spicata L.) and Peppermint (Mentha piperita L.)

Four spearmint, and two peppermint clonal lines, selected for enhanced rosmarinic acid content (50-120 mg g -1 rosmarinic acid DW), where up to 80% of the antioxidant activity was correlated to rosmarinic acid content, were examined to determine the effects of environmental and physiological conditions on the accumulation of rosmarinic acid in leaf tissues. Exposure to a short photoperiod of 12...

critical period effects in foreign language learning:the influence of maturational state on the acquisition of reading, writing, and grammar in english as a foreign language

since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...
